A. CALLED TO BECOME HIS DISCIPLE/CHILD/BRIDE
Much has been said in this regard so we will only add that this is the most important calling to which man must respond.
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you. (Mat 6:33).
B. CALLED TO DEVELOP THIS WORLD
God’s original calling of man was not withdrawn and reads:
And God created man in His image; in the image of God He created him. He created them male and female. And God blessed them. And God said to them, Be fruitful, and multiply and fill the earth, and subdue it. And have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the fowl of the heavens, and all animals that move upon the earth. (Gen 1:27, 28).
This present creation was scrapped by God when mankind sinned and will be superseded by a new creation steeped in perfect righteousness.
In the meantime, it serves as a home in which people can be born that will be afforded the opportunity of becoming citizens of God’s new Kingdom.
It also serves as an arena or gym in which the new-born people of God get trained to attain to the full stature of Christ. All their necessary spiritual qualities can be developed while living their daily lives down below.
This earth, therefore, also is to be maintained in good order and to be developed to be able to sustain an enormous population.
It is not to be seen or used as something permanent.
These all died by way of faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off. And they were persuaded of them and embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. (Heb 11:13).
and those that use the world, as not using it to the full: for the fashion of this world passes away. (1 Co 7:31).
Do not layup treasures on earth for yourselves, where moth and rust corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal. But layup treasures in Heaven for yourselves, where neither moth nor rust corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. (Mat 6:19-21).
Mankind is highly equipped and skilled to develop this world and is doing so at a breathtaking pace, pooling his knowledge to advance even faster into the unknown. Space travel to distant stars has become a common practice. Unfortunately, and due to his fallen nature, man is once more building for himself a Tower of Babel.
C. CALLED TO MAKE DISCIPLES FOR THE NEW WORLD
Once a person gets born-again, thereby becoming a disciple of Christ, he is called to participate in the making of disciples of the rest of the human race.
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, All authority is given to Me in Heaven and in earth. Therefore, go and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things, whatever I commanded you. And, behold, I am with you all the days until the end of the world. Amen. (Mat 28:18-20).
To go out and make disciples of all nations, needs funding, sometimes huge amounts. If you do not feel called to go out into full-time ministry, but you are talented in making money in diverse ways, make a million a month, keeping only R15000 or as much as you really need for a modest lifestyle and donate the rest of your income to one or more ministries.
In this way you can also develop your faith, reaching higher and higher every day – make your life count for God. Jesus told the parable of the three servants who each received talents according to their abilities, from their master before he went on a journey. On his return, he was greatly pleased with the two that had doubled what they had received.
To make as much as you can, is not sinful but to hoard it up for yourself is selfish.
